There are only a few books and movies that circle around women, having strong female characters, that aren’t dolled up to appear lifeless. But wherein, the female lead emerges as a strong figure. Someone who we can relate to. However, most of the books and films lack strong female presence. They get a little space to thrive.
Are either produced to objectify women or to seek sympathy from the protagonist- the damsel in distress image, being the most common. But, not all writers have done injustice to women. One such prolific, Swedish writer and journalist named Steig Larsson, has blessed the readers with his finest work called- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
The Novel’s Genre:
The Girl with the dragon tattoo is a psychological thriller novel, which is a part of the Millennium series. The book was published posthumously in 2005 and became an international bestseller. Character Sketch of Lisbeth Salander- The Secondary Protagonist and the Titular Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
The main characters of the novel are interesting in their own way. But when Salander makes her appearance, she steals the spotlight with her distinctive look, her rawness and with her complex personality. Her portrayal is beautiful and unique.
When most books and films produce male figures, who seem to be disturbed in many ways. The titular girl, Slander brings a breath of fresh air. She is unique, an epitome of bravery. A girl who is fragile from within yet wears confidence on her sleeve. Is asocial, smart, witty, keen and observant.
