How to Celebrate your Beauty by loving Yourself
“Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.”
Remembering the golden lines of the famous poem “Phenomenal Women” written by the versatile female author, poet and civil rights activist Maya Angelou. Today let’s talk about self-love and acceptance which is the need of the hour.
Living in the era when beauty industries are pushing women to hoard more and more products that one doesn’t need. Just take some time to stop by in order to celebrate womanhood by accepting and appreciating your individuality.
While checking the stats that were available on the internet what I came across was about 74% of girls are under pressure to impress others. About 98% of girls feel they are pressurised from external sources to look in a certain way.
Around 90% of girls are dealing with eating disorders, 92% of teen girls would like to change their features or body parts and about 1 in 4 girls today battle with depression and other mental/emotional disorders. So let’s break this vicious cycle by telling all the lovely ladies around the world to embrace their beauty.
Let your inner beauty shine:
All of us are beautiful in one or the other way because there is something unique about everybody. Some have deep-colossal eyes, some have a dimpled smile, some are blessed with a great physique, others have luscious locks, melodious voice and the list goes on and on.
So don’t feel bad about what you think is lacking in you. Always remember that physical beauty will never make you shine bright but your inner beauty will.
Remember you don’t have to fit into others idea of beautiful:
This is a serious issue today because our society and the mainstream media have created their idols of beauty, teaching others how a woman should look like. Be a rebel and tell them that you are beautiful the way you are and you don’t need to impostor anybody.
Don’t consume everything that you are told you need to buy in order to look good. All you need is the confidence to carry yourself with pride because that will make you ten times gorgeous.
Don’t take negative remarks seriously:
Some people have a habit of judging others and pointing flaws in them. Such people make harsh comments like “OMG! You have crooked teeth, I didn’t notice that in your pictures may be because you keep your lips sewed up”.
Some give free advice like, you have gross acne why don’t you get some treatment done? The common one, you are not the perfect size why don’t you workout? While others interrogate in a weird way like, why your skin tone is dark while your parents are fair?
I can bet that most of us have heard such obnoxious comments at some point in life. What’s more surprising is that it generally comes from our near and dear ones. So it’s better to ignore such insensitive comments and walk with your head held high. And if you are someone who does that, then you need to stop right there as you don’t know how much it can affect the other person’s confidence.
Realise the fact that nobody is perfect:
When the world is going gaga over the beauty of curvaceous models that are airbrushed and painted all over to appear as if they have come down from heaven. People tend to ignore what makes a woman beautiful. Those models whom you see on the cover of the magazines are absolutely gorgeous but that doesn’t mean you have to resemble them in order to feel beautiful.
Even your idols of beauty are not a perfect version of themselves so don’t think that you aren’t pretty enough. Remember if you have immense love for all the beings, irrespective of how tiny their existence means to other people then you are truly beautiful.
Comparison kills joy if someone does that to you just make the work of karma easy:
Comparing somebody’s potential with the other person is stupid. What’s more irritating is comparing someone’s look or personality with the other person as it is something that they are born with and it’s beyond their control.
If someone tries to make fun of your looks, just give it back to them by making them realize how it feels. Give a taste of their karma to them and compare that person to someone insanely attractive. Just enjoy the look on that person’s face because karma has no menu, you get served what you deserve.
Believe in yourself:
The way you carry yourself makes a lot of difference. Be confident about yourself and let people say what they want. If you’ll not react to their negative comments, eventually you’ll crush their so-called ego and win.
Live your life the way you want and if someone bombards their negative comments on your appearance or personality then just forgive them as they are insensitive and won’t change their ways.

Don’t wait for anybody to compliment you, just remember that you are beautiful:
You don’t need others to tell you that you are beautiful. Beauty is something that comes from within. Just love yourself and every time you stare at your reflection in the mirror, feel blessed to have such a vibrant and colorful personality.
The standards of beauty will alter with time and they are made to make women realise that they aren’t pretty enough. So the beauty industry can thrive on their insecurities.
Try to focus on becoming a beautiful soul than just a beautiful face:
A beautiful face may turn several heads for a while but a beautiful soul will be cherished forever. So try to become a better person, a wise, kind-hearted woman than just being a beautiful face who sure has all the spice but is unkind and ignorant.
If people were more concerned with how they looked on the inside, then on the outside, the world would be a nicer place to exist.
― David Walsh
Do not fall for a person, who tells you to change the way you look:
There is nothing wrong with grooming yourself as it enhances your beauty but if someone tells you to do it religiously then it becomes a task as you can’t wear makeup every single day. If your dearly beloved advises you to wear makeup or comments on your features then you need to give a break to this relationship.
Ask him, whether he loves you, your face or your makeup? Because when a person loves you dearly, they don’t find flaws in you, all they see is love, immense love.
You don’t need cosmetic surgeries to enhance your look all you need to do is smile:
It’s sad to see that many teenage girls are not confident about their looks and when they see their favourite stars getting under the knife to get that perfect body or for enhancing their features, they get fascinated by it. They fall into the trap and fail to see the dark side of it.
As there have been many cases in which the surgeries have turned out to be a disaster and the person had to live with that distorted face forever. So don’t alter your natural beauty and risk your life because you will always be as phenomenal as you are and that’s what people are going to see.
You are unique no matter what shape, size or colour you are:
Accept your individuality and love yourself. Be kind and humble that’s all you need to be beautiful. Find happiness in the simplest things and embrace yourself because when you’ll start loving yourself everything will fall into place.
Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.
― Kahlil Gibran
Last and most important, rise above these petty issues:
Be practical and rise above these petty issues as there are lots of other things to focus on rather than stressing over being beautiful. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and for that someone special, you’ll always be the most beautiful person on earth.
In case you have forgotten, just remind yourself that I am not beautiful like others, I am beautiful like me! Wear that lovely smile and win over the haters.
Let thy spirit be high in love. Namaste
